The starting shot for the project "Nordic Team Tirol" was fired in October 2018 in the Olympic region Seefeld, venue of the FIS Nordic Ski World Championships 2019. In bright autumn weather the highly motivated bloggers got to know not only the other team members but also their coaches for the coming months. Under the guidance of professional cross-country skier Urban Lentsch and a team from the Olympic Centre Innsbruck, the Nordic Team Tirol is training for the Koasalauf in February 2019. The goal is to master the competition - without almost any previous knowledge. All participants are beginners, some have never been on cross-country skis before. The bloggers are documenting their personal experiences and challenges during the project on their own social media channels using the hashtag #nordicteamtirol.

With the "Nordic Team Tirol", the Tirol Tourist Board is pursuing an innovative approach to promoting both the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 and the cross-country skiing opportunities with its quality-tested infrastructure. The training units will take place over the coming months in five selected partner regions: Olympiaregion Seefeld, Osttirol, Paznaun-Ischgl, Tannheimer Tal and Kitzbüheler Alpen. The training programme includes a fitness check to coordinate an individual training plan, cross-country skiing sessions, equipment, technique and dexterity as well as a taste of racing on the SkiTrail Tannheimer Tal. The training sessions in Tirol are rounded off by a variety of supporting programmes in the five Tirolean regions, including e-bike tours and cooking courses. The Nordic Team Tirol have also benefited from top-notch equipment courtesy of leading sports brands Fischer and Löffler.

"My motivation to participate in the Nordic Team Tirol is two-fold: On the one hand, it is of course a physical challenge to master the 50 kilometres of the Koasalauf, on the other hand, mastering the technical subtleties and movements of cross-country skiing is an exciting task for me as a newcomer. Austrian outdoor blogger Fabian Pimminger explains his participation in the project. "For motivation and training morale it is great to have a sporty goal in mind with the Koasalauf, which will certainly be a great challenge." Christian Wander from Outville describes his motivation. "After the very promising start in Seefeld I am already looking forward to the next training camp in Obertilliach and I hope that we will be able to train on snow by then". Katharina Kestler and Meike Wingenroth from the Munich Mountain Girls add: "The coaches who are training us are great. Although we are complete beginners, they take us as seriously as "real" athletes. We are confident that at the finish we will all fall into each other's arms cheering."
